My dog ate poison. How long until meds work and symptoms improve?

Update on Oso Amaya he went to the vet and it's not lethargy or parvo it turns out he may have ate something poisonous vet gave him meds he's up walking around but looks disoriented drinking lots of water still no appetite not much energy... If he's taking meds how long does it take to get out of his system will he be alright is he in pain.. not sure vet thinks it might of been a dead rat or rat poison. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old
