My dog was hit, but shows no pain. What are signs of internal injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 1 year old

Our dog ran toward a horse and cart on the beach, he managed to go under the horse and the cart. At no time did he yelp or scream and immediately got up and carried on playing. I have examined him from head to toe and he hasn't reacted to show any signs of pain. His breathing is ok and he is eating and drinking. We are not sure if he was actually hit by either the horse or the cart, but are concerned what we should look for that could point to any internal damage

If your dog had internal damage he would have breathing problems, or an extended hard abdomen, or blood coming from his anus or other body orifices, or would get very pale mucous membranes, get lethargic over time. If any of this happens, take Pitru to a veterinarian right away.
