My dog ate stuffing from his bed. Should I be worried he swallowed it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | unneutered | 10 lbs

I'm not sure if he ate a piece of the lose stuffing from a already torn bed covering. I noticed him making a chewing movement when I entered the room as he was laying next to an already torn blanket. Is their need to be concerned if he swallowed a piece of the stuffing?

Hello. The first thing you need to do is recover or throw this bed away. Much depends on how much Snowind may have ingested, but most times only a small piece is ingested. Most pets are just interested in a taste & rarely eat enough to cause a problem. You should just keep an eye on him for any abnormal gastrointestinal signs such as loss of appetite, vomiting or diarrhea over the next several days. If he seems to be doing fine, then do not worry, he did eat enough to cause a problem. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
