My 4-month-old husky puppy has red eye whites. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 16 days old | 40 lbs

Our four month old husky malemute has very red whites of his eyes. They were not always this red but we’re more pinkish. He does not have any discharge other than the regular clearish grey-ish gunk In the morning and it’s minimal. He does not seem bothered by it. He does not rub his eyes. I’m just wondering if it’s anything to be concerned about. Thank you

He can have an eye infection, but he may also have gotten dust in his eyes. If he recently was around other dogs I recommend bringing him to a veterinarian since it can be pink eye. Otherwise, I recommend rinsing his eyes with saline and if the redness doesn't resolve or gets worse bring him to a veterinarian. He may need eye drops.
