My dog ate a needle with thread. Is it dangerous? What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 18 days old | 44 lbs

My 9 month old Golden Retriever just swallowed a needle with thread attached. No coughing or choking. What should we do?

You should immediately take her to a petER, preferably to one where they have an endoscope with which they can take out the needle from the stomach before it travels on into the intestine and causes an intestinal obstruction as a "linear foreign body" or the needle perforates the stomach or the intestines. Please take Bebe to a petER now.

    I highly recommend bringing Bebe to the veterinarian. This needs to be removed. They may be able to do it with an endoscope or they may need to do surgery. The issue is the needle can pierce the intestinal tract and the string can create a linear foreign body. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
