Found a turtle outside. What kind is it and what care does it need?

My little brother found this tiny little turtle in the grass of our apartment complex. I want to know what kind of turtle it is and if it will need to be in water and I just really need to know it's necessities. When he found it it was completely covered in dirt and we have no clue how long it's been outside for. Please help! Pet's info: Reptile | Turtle

Hello. This is a common Red Eared Slider & there is a ton of information available online, in books & at pet stores on the proper care of these turtles. Please inform yourself the best you can to give this little guy the best chance possible to have a long life. They can make very good pets.
