My dog chewed her leg callus and it bled. Is emergency vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 11 months old | 15.5 lbs

Sookie has a small callus on her front (right) leg that she chewed a little hole into. It bled a little bit, just a few drops, but I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide, dried it off, and wrapped it (after I made sure it stopped bleeding). Should I take her to the vet as an emergency or wait until tomorrow or the next day?

Hello. If the area is not bleeding, then I would not recommend spending the extra money to have her seen on emergency. Just make sure your bandage is not too tight & just have her seen at your earliest convenience. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
