Why is my cat's nose irritated after travel? Is it rubbing or mange?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi there my cat has some irritation on the top of their nose, we just travelled 2000 miles and thought maybe she had been rubbing her nose hard on the carrier at times but she was also previously feral and worry about mange. She just went to the vet a week and a half ago and got shots and parasite/worm medication. We have noticed her nose over the last few days.

Hello. I actually fully agree with you that this looks more like trauma from rubbing on the carrier. It is very unlikely to be mange. Just give things some time & it should heal up on its own. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
