After six months on Fluconosole, my yorkie has no more symptoms of Valley Fever, but is b.w. tested positive, still He is experiencing significant hair loss that started with the use of that drug. He is now another 6 weeks along with no symptoms and I'd like to stop the drug, before he loses all of his fur! His appetite is good, lots of energy, but is continually scratching and biting at his fur. Is it possible that his own body now is resistant to V.F.?---Chuck Bump

Unfortunately, it's common for treatment to take 6-12 months, or even be required lifelong if the infection was severe enough (involving the nervous system) before treatment was started. You could talk to your vet about switching to a different anti-fungal to see if it's a better fit for your pup.
