My dog has nasal cancer. What's the outcome of SRT treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 7 yo female Black Lab mix has been diagnosed with a nasal carcinoma (through CT scan and biopsy). It is considered aggressive and invasive as it is affecting the bone between the left and right nasal cavities. The only symptom indicating there was a problem was a bulge on the top of her head. She is eating, sleeping, acting as if nothing is wrong. The treatment plan is SRT which may extend her life expectancy from 2-3 months to 12 months or more. Any thoughts on the outcome of SRT?

Radiation is definitely the treatment of choice for nasal carcinoma and can be very helpful. It's not without local side effects at times, but does help with life expectancy, and can be stopped at any time if there are side effects that are too great. I think if you're up for it, it's a reasonable step, and one you can stop at any point if it's not going well.
