My 9-year-old Boston won't eat due to tooth pain. What food is safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | 8 years and 5 months old

My female Boston 9 years old is getting a tooth pulled and they're putting her under. Her appetite has changed, not eating a couple times a week. Looking for a different kind of food. Is all this okay?

She is likely not eating well due to having a tooth ache. I would wait with changing food until a few weeks after the dental cleaning and extraction to give her time to heal and not cause extra stress.
