My dog is 55 days pregnant and she is vomiting right now..is it normal?

Yes the occasional vomiting is normal towards the end of pregnancy. The puppies are growing a lot and tend to press on the stomach which activates pressure receptors and this makes the dog vomit. If your dog is lethargic, however, or otherwise appears ill, you will need to take her to your veterinarian for an exam as she may have an infection or other gastro-intestinal problem.

Hi. Some pets can vomit towards end of pregnancy, but I wouldn't necessarily call it normal. There are a lot of possible causes for vomiting. It can be a very vague sign. I would Cookie checked out tomorrow just to make sure everything is normal. You can offer her boiled chicken and rice for the evening.

If Karma is vomiting occasionally, then it might just be "morning sickness" from pregnancy. If she is vomiting consistently throughout the day and isn't keeping food down, this is concerning. Typically nausea during pregnancy is over by 4 weeks, but it is possible to last a bit longer. However, if this continues there may be another cause. You can try giving a small meal right before bed, and consider trying a bland diet like white rice and boiled chicken for a few days to see if that helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Dogs don't get morning sickness like humans do, so her recent vomiting is not likely to be from pregnancy. Common causes of vomiting in dogs includes dietary intolerance, dietary indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. I would recommend that you have Nancy checked out by a vet to see if there is a cause of he nausea and poor appetite. The vet may recommend diagnostics such as bloodwork or x-rays.

Two possibilities exist here, one she is pregnant or two she is sick. If you are not feeling puppies kicking in her belly and she is puking and acting ill, then she could have a serious condition called Pyometra (spontaneously infected uterus). This will cause swelling of the belly almost overnight and cause the pet to have a fever (> 102.5 degree Fahrenheit rectal temperature), vomit, decreased appetite and lethargy. She may require medication to control her symptoms, but options are limited due to her pregnancy. If you haven't had it done already, x-rays will be taken to count the number of puppies she is expecting. This information will help you during to labor to know if she has had all the puppies or not. You should expect to see belly growth when pregnant, but every dog carries differently. The only way to know for sure if Diamond is pregnant is to have her seen by a vet, and I'd take her into one today if she is vomiting and not eating. Her health is really important for her puppies if she is pregnant, so best to get her checked out asap when sick. I hope this helps!

Poor Gypsy. This could be due several things like a respiratory problem, eating something she shouldn't, all the hormones, a bacterial/viral infection, parasites and much more. Since she is pregnant, we have to be careful what medicines she gets put on. I would have your vet take a look at her to ensure all of the puppies are still okay. They will also be able to determine the problem and get her on the safest medications for her and the puppies. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for your post on Boop by Petco! Unfortunately, there are no anti-nausea/vomiting medications safe for pregnant dogs. The greenish liquid is likely bile from vomiting on an empty stomach. Nausea and vomiting can be common in some dogs in the early stage of pregnancy. There are also other more concerning causes of vomiting in dogs, so if it continues or becomes more frequent, I would take her into see her veterinarian as soon as possible.
