My rat has mites and thinning fur. Will his fur grow back after treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rat | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 26 days old

I have a rat and have just noticed that he is infected with mites. I have cleaned and sprayed his cage and I tried to spray him but he kept moving around to much so I am not sure if he was adequately covered with the mite spray.will he be alright with a few more treatments . He seems to have thinned fur ( I thought it was due to him and his brother play fighting} as well, will this grow back. Thank you

The fur will grow back once the treatment is successful, you will need to repeat the treatment once a week for at least 3 times. next time i would recommend a different approach, wear disposable gloves, spray directly on your hands (with the gloves) a few times then rub it evenly on Marshmellow , it's an easier way to make sure the liquid is spread evenly.
