Are my 6-year-old dog's swollen, discolored gums normal for her age?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | 4 years and 11 months old

Her top teeth look like they're kind of recess and cause it comes around the teeth are swollen and a different shade of color is this something I need to worry about or is it just old age because she is 6 years old

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Brindle. It is difficult to say without seeing a picture, but she could be experiencing an overgrowth of her gum tissue. This is common in certain breeds of dogs especially boxers and bulldogs. She will likely need to have her teeth cleaned under anesthesia. This will not only allow the cleaning, but for her teeth and gum health to be assessed. Treatment can then be performed if necessary. I hope this information helps!
