My dog has a lip growth and bad breath. Could they be connected?

My BC has had a growth on his lip for about 6 weeks which decreased in size and not so red however his breath is now quite bad. Could this be coming from the growth and what could it be? Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 3 years and 10 months old | 40 lbs

Bad breath is always a sign of bacterial infection or contamination. This growth could be an abscess and your dog could also have severe gingivitis and or bad teeth or a tooth root abscess. take your dog to a veterinarian for an exam Monday at the latest.
