How would i know if my dog has ear mites? He is not in contact with other dogs other than my other pup. He has somewhat dirty ears but i dont know if its normal ear dirt or what because hes my first dog. Do his ears look okay? How would i know if its yeast? He does occasionally itch his ears but not often

If your dog had ear mites, he would be really itchy. However, there is a possibility that Otis has a yeast or bacterial ear infection if he has discharge from the ear. Yeast infections smell a bit like beer, bacterial infections often are stinky. Both are painful. In order to diagnose an ear infection your vet will need to examine the ears with an otoscope. Unfortunately just looking at a photograph is not helpful. If your dog appears to be irritated by his ears, best schedule an appointment with your vet. for an exam.

It's probably an ear infection. Ear infections are very common in dogs, it is usually caused by either yeast or bacterial disease. the treatment is usually simple and straightforward, you will have to take Houston to the vet and get the ears checked, then a prescription ear drops will be prescribed according to the infectious agent.

It sounds like Izzy has a bad ear infection, and she could also have allergies if she is itching at her paws. She sounds miserable. She needs to see a vet today to have these problems diagnosed and treated.
