My kitten is about 6 weeks old. Should I start dental care? What else do I give her? Can I deworm her at home? Or do I have to take her

Great questions! You can start brushing Bambi's teeth now. I would get a cat toothbrush and cat toothpaste (do NOT use human toothpaste) from the pet store. I recommend the CET brand of dental products. You can deworm her at home, you can pick up a deworming treatment while at the pet store. When she is six weeks of age, she will be old enough for her first vaccines, so make her an appointment with a vet to get those done. I hope this helps!

I do recommend brushing your cat's teeth on a semi-weekly basis to help maintain healthy teeth and gums, and it's never too early to start on good habits! The most important thing to do is use a pet toothpaste, as their fluoride requirements are different than ours. I would choose a flavor that she likes. Good luck!

Congratulations! What a beautiful kitten! Most vets start a vaccine series between 6-8 weeks of age, and will also deworm or check stool samples at the first visit. Following that, they typically need a visit/booster every 3-5 weeks until they are a few months old. The exact vaccines schedule will be individualized by your vet. They may also recommend parasite prevention or routine dewormers. Other things you can do at home include feeding a high quality kitten food, checking their urine and stool output and getting them used to being handled. Becoming well socialized is very important! Make sure they have plenty of vertical space like a cat tree, handle him gently and frequently - get him used to having his nail trims, etc. Don't let him bite you:) It looks like you are off to a great start!

You are welcome to take Mia to one of those vaccination clinics for her vaccination boosters and deworming. It is not recommend you try to deworm her at home yourself with a kitten this small. They can do it for you with her vaccinations. Kittens should receive vaccines at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. She will be fine to wait the extra week until she is 12 weeks old to receive the deworming. Many times you will not see intestinal parasites until the animals are critically sick. It's recommended to deworm young puppies and kittens every two weeks for at least three cycles, due to the lifecycle of the parasites. I would recommend getting a product labeled for kittens such as pyrantel pamoate. Make sure you weigh them and get accurate weights to dose the medication. As soon as you are able I do still recommend a veterinary exam as they will need vaccines, feline leukemia testing and there are other parasites that the pyrantel may not address. Look in your area as there are often low cost vaccination clinics available through pet stores or feed stores if a full service clinic is not possible. Also check with your local veterinarian as many times they may offer a rate for a litter of kittens versus charging each animal individually. Best of luck and thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Tapeworms are killed by a medication called praziquantel, which is prescription only. A dewormer containing that can only be gotten at the vet. A great deworming medication is Drontal which kills tapeworms, roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. OTC dewormers will only kill roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. Personally I always recommend a deworming medication from the vet, as they are stronger and better than anything you get OTC. Drontal is safe and healthy for kittens. Bambi should get a dewormer now, and another in two weeks. After that she will need to be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age, and then every three months thereafter. It's perfectly safe to give them a deworming medication even if they don't have worms, it prevents them from occurring. I never recommend getting OTC flea and tick medications. Many brands of them, such as Hartz, are terrible products that do not work and can have serious side effects in cats. I personally recommend getting a fle

Kittens should have their first set of vaccines between 6-8 weeks of age, so I would schedule an appointment as soon as possible. They can be dewormed as young as two weeks of age, so I would definitely go ahead and do this as well. I would recommend feeding a good quality kitten food such as Hills Science Diet or Royal Canin - these foods are complete and balanced, and contain all the nutrition needed for a growing kitten.

He looks like a domestic medium hair. I think it would be fine to go ahead and give him a bath in diluted dawn to help get the fleas that are on him off. It will not prevent new fleas from getting on him. Once he is old enough you can start him on flea preventative. His vaccines should be started at 6 weeks of age. Your vet will be able to go over the specific vaccine schedule tha the recommend for the area you live in. At 6 weeks most people start with the FVRCP (upper respiratory) vaccine. Kittens needs vaccine severy 3 weeks until they are 12-15 weeks old depending on the area. It’s hard to tell exactly how she without seeing him in person. Most healthy cats who aren’t underweight are ~1.5 pounds at 6 weeks of age. I would have a wellness exam done by your vet so they can tell you his age and get him started on the recommended vaccine schedule. I hope this helps.

Congratulations on your new kitten! Vaccines are given between 7-8 weeks and continue every 4 weeks until about 16 weeks of age. Since she may have a bit of a respiratory infection, you will want to hold off on vaccination until she recovers. Have her examined by your veterinarian and treated if indicated. She can be tested for FeLV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) as well as for intestinal parasites. She can be dewormed now and again in 2-3 weeks. This should all be done if it wasn't prior to adoption. Once she recovers, she can receive a rabies vaccine and begin her series of FVRCP (feline distemper) vaccines. If she is to be an outdoor cat, an FeLV vaccine is also recommended. You can discuss an appropriate vaccine protocol with your veterinarian. She can be spayed when she is 6 months old.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. A veterinarian in India will be beat able to answer this question based on local disease and parasite patterns. Here in the US, I deworm kittens with fenbedazole and praziquantel. This may be needed just once or several times throughout kittenhood. I give the FVRCP vaccine starting at 6-8 weeks. I give one every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. I give a feline leukemia vaccine at 12 weeks and 16 weeks. I give a rabies vaccine at 12 or 16 weeks.
