Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 5 days old | 5.8 lbs
I took my 9 week old Corgi puppy to the Vet yesterday and they diagnosed her with Gastroenteritis from eating acorns from Oak tree. She was given IV fluids and anti-nausea shot. The next morning I tried feeding her small amount of kibble but it gave her diarrhea later in the morning although luckily she didnt throw up. What should I feed her as she's recovering for this stomach issue because she hasnt lost appetite at all and wants to eat?

You can put Cocoon bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for a recheck.

Poor Koda! The vomiting and diarrhea could be due to many conditions including eating something he shouldn’t have, bacterial over growth, parasites or even organ disease and intestinal blockage. Since the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours and he is now having some vomiting, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. A good diet in general is Royal Canin. It is low residue and highly digestible. I hope Koda starts feeling better quickly! Please feel free to post any additional questions.

You can Continue a bland diet to help regulate his Gi track but they are omnivores and dinrrwuire veggies also. You can change the rice for sweet potatoes for a variety. I would try to add green beans as this is bland but stay away from anything that starts with the letter P as this can make diarrhea worse

Unless Toby ate a large quantity, the worst he should experience is some gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea and/or vomiting. As long as he is behaving normally otherwise, you can withhold food for 24 hours to give his belly a rest. Offer small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte, about a tablespoon or two every hour. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with one tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount as long as there is no vomiting. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to his regular diet. Yes, plain white rice can be mixed in equal part with chicken. Use boneless/skinless chicken breasts and boil them until cooked then shred them. Do not add oil, salt, pepper or any other seasoning. If symptoms do not resolve or if Toby develops lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain, then have him examined by your veterinarian.
