Pet's info: Cat | American Bobtail | Male | neutered | 20 lbs
Its my cats claw. It the part that almost looks like a second cuticle or the skin around the cuticle. Its very red and looks like it might be infected. I can see that its red from accross the room. Is there a cream or somthing i can get for him to help? We cant afford a vet bill right this moment but i dont want him to be in pain or injured. Ive tired wrapping it but he takes it right off and ive tried putting a cone collar on him but i think it causes him more stress then anything.

Anything you apply will likely be licked off and ingested. This could further complicate his condition. If a vet visit is not possible now, you can try soaking the paw in a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution twice daily. Dry it thoroughly afterwards. An e-collar (cone) is your best bet at preventing licking which could delay healing. If this doesn't work, Thor will need to be seen by your veterinarian. He may need antibiotics to resolve any infection and pain medication to manage discomfort. Do not medicate him at home without the advice of your veterinarian.
