Why did my dog have frothy bloody foam from mouth/nose after passing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 26 lbs

My dog who was diagnosed with lung cancer 3 days ago just passed this morning. She immediately had a frothy blood stained foam pouring from her mouth and nose and I would like to know what it is.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that Mary passed away so suddenly. It must have been a real shock for you. I think the fluid you noticed is inflammatory fluid coming from the chest because of the presence of cancer. This is secondary to the presence of the tumour, sadly can’t be treated and does aggravate the breathing itself. I hope Mary did not suffer. Thinking about you at this difficult time.
