My dog's eye is red, swollen, watery near the corner. What's wrong?

I noticed Monday my dog has swelling and red in her eye (corner by nose) and it waters a lot.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Babygirl. She has an elevation of her third eyelid. This can be due to inflammation or infection within the eye or to the gland prolasping. Prolapsing of the gland is known as a cherry eye. She will need to se her veterinarian for an examination. I hope this information helps!

    I would recommend having Sadie examined by a vet. The area of redness in the eye that I can see in the picture does not appear to be related to the third eyelid gland (commonly called a cherry eye). This lesion appears to be within or under the sclera of the eye. Cancer, foreign body, or infection could cause this appearance. The vet may need to sedate Sadie to collect a sample for further evaluation to rule out cancer.
