Is Galliprant safe for my senior dog? What about long-term use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Treeing Walker Coonhound | Female | spayed | 60 lbs

Hi, This question is for my 95# shepx named Shadow, who is 11 yrs. old. I am wondering about the safety of Galliprant. I think I've heard that it is not quite as safe as was believed when it first started to be used a year or so ago. What can you tell me about it? Thanks, Pam

Hello. There have been no known unsuspected problems with Galliprant. It is safer to use in pets that may have some problems with their livers, but all non-steroidal drugs have side effects. With routine monitoring, most potentially harmful side effects can be mitigated quickly. Just follow your veterinarians recommendations.
