When are my dog's dissolvable mouth stitches safe after surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years old | 16 lbs

My dog just got two top fourth molars removed, when can I stop worrying so much about her messing her mouth stitches up ( they are dissolvable) I can barely see them right now.

It is very unlikely that Courage will mess up or open the stitches. Mucous membranes and gums heal extremely fast so the wounds should have healed about 5 days after the surgery. It will take much longer for the sutures to dissolve than it takes for the wound to heal. So you can stop worrying now
