Is it normal for a mother cat to act mean to her 3-month-old kittens?

hi! so i have 5 kittens (which are around 3 months old) and their mother suddenly acted a bit mean towards them recently like you'll see them playing sometimes but you'll also see her growling at them later on. it kinda seems like she's pushing them away but not really so i'm pretty confused,, is this normal? or is it just part of the play?

It is normal. She is telling them that she taught them everything they know and now it is time to leave and be adults. She is basically weaning them. So let her deal with it. You can try to find homes for the kittens now. They do not need their mother anymore. It is also possible that Oreo is pregnant again and ready to have new kittens and therefore decided that it is time for the older kittens to go.
