Puppy foamed, cried, and had soft stool after eating eggs. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 14 days old | 3 lbs

Pickles is a 8 weeks old Chihuahua, yesterday I gave him a small amount of scrambled egged which I normally do for all my Chi’s as a snack. About an hour later I put them all out to potty. When he came back in he started foaming a little at the moth and crying.... he’s acting mostly normal. I can tell something’s wrong because he just wants to be held. This morning he had some soft stool. Normal color.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think this is unlikely to be related to feeding him eggs unless this caused some stomach upset and nausea. I would continue to monitor him for now. However, if this continues, I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for this possibility and others and treat accordingly. Good luck!
