My dog has bumps above her eyes and black eyelid spots. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 9 months old | 4 lbs

I noticed she has these bump like things on both sides in like the same spot above her eyes. There was a black hair sticking out so is that just where her whiskers come through? She has no problems except for her seasonal allergies. Also, her eyelid has gotten black pigmentation on it. Is that normal? It’s not in her eye nor does it seem raised.

The bump like things above her eyes are special whisker type hairs with special sensory cells....very normal. The pigmentation on the eyelid should be examined by your veterinarian as that may be a mass that could eventually cause some damage to the eye via rubbing, or it could be a cyst, an abscess or cancer. I suggest you schedule an exam with your veterinarian soon.
