My dog has blood in urine & no energy after UTI meds. What's next?

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 8 years and 4 months old | 28 lbs

I have an 8 year old female cocker spaniel who has lost her appetite and has no energy. She has been to the vet several times over the last several weeks. She was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and given a round of antibiotics. She was tested again and still had some blood in her urine. No more medicine was prescribed. She is no better with no clear answers from the vet. Any advice?

Blood in urine can be a sign of a urinary tract infection, but also a sign of a bleeding polyp or bladder tumor. So if your veterinarian found only blood in the urine and no bacteria or other germs, and if the antibiotic treatment lasted long enough, then the next step would be to have her bladder examined via a endoscopy, ultrasound or a contrast x-ray to rule out any masses. You may want to discuss this with your veterinarian and get a referral if your vet is not able to do any of those diagnostics.
