My cat's eye is watery and squinting. Is it an infection or lazy eye?

Hello.. This isbky new cat cookie and I have him gone to the vet for an eye checkup and they told me it's a lazy eye!!! I'm not convinced as it's so watery if you take a look at the picture I have arrached.. please let me know what you think and what I should do

Cookie is a handsome boy! I see that he is squinting his eye, and if it's watery, I would suspect he may have an eye infection. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain, so I would take him into another vet for a second opinion. Best of luck.

    It looks as Shakespeare is suffering from an eye infection, it is relatively common in dogs. you will need to take him to the vet the first chance you get, the vet will check the eyes, if it is indeed a simple eye infection your vet will prescribe an antibiotic eye drops that will probably solve the problem in no time.

I see what you mean. He could be squinting because the light is painful to his eye, and it may be he has injured his eyes or has an eye infection. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take him into a vet right away to get checked out. Best of luck.

If you are noticing squinting, I recommend to have her examined. Squinting generally indicates pain and this could be from an infection or an ulcer on the cornea. Also, make sure she is not rubbing the area as this can make it worse. Stormy may need to wear an elizabethan collar. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Yes, Callie has an eye infection and she needs to be examined by the veterinarian. The squinting and rubbing means Callie may be in pain and that she could have a scratch on the cornea. The rubbing can also make the eye worse. She needs to wear an elizabethan collar at all times and try to have her examined today if possible. I hope this helps.

It could be Oreo has hurt his eye or has an eye infection. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take him into a vet today to have this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Coco could have an eye infection, or could have a scrape or ulcer on her eye - this is a very common injury! There can be more "internal" eye problems that cause squinting too - glaucoma, uveitis, etc. External problems such as injury and infection are the most common in cats, however. It's best to have Coco seen by the vet to make sure the cause of the squinting is identified and properly treated.

I’ve noticed that since yesterday my cat’s eye is watery, eye boogers and squinty. Is this anything I need to be really concerned about?
I am so sorry to hear that Little John is experiencing these problems with his eye. Thank you for providing an excellent picture, it seems red and has discharge. Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Little John to prevent scratching or rubbing. If the eye is infected it is likely painful, this will prompt Him to scratch or rub his eye. However, this could inflict further damage, infection or even an ulceration. Because eye concerns with cats, such as infections, corneal ulcerations, cataracts and glaucoma, can progress rapidly I would have him examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the issue. The precise medication can then be dispensed by your veterinarian. Please do not attempt to treat an eye infection at home with any over the counter medications, drops or ointments. This can lead to permanent damage and unnecessary pain or discomfort. I hope this answer was helpful and that Little John feels better soon. Warmest regards to you both!

My 3 month old kittens eyes are watering on and off, is this normal?
No this is normal, and it could be due to an eye infection, injury to the eye, or allergies. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would have Cookie seen by a vet tomorrow to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated.

My cat who is about 2 years old now has a eye problem, in which he can't open it all the way and he is getting lots of eye goop. What should I do?
Oreo seems to have an infection. We cannot rule out a corneal ulcer just by looking at the picture. Cats often have upper respiratory tract infection, and develop conjunctivitis and I discharge because of it. Take Oreo to your veterinarian for a detailed exam that possibly will include staining the cornea to rule out ulcers. I forsee you will have to give eye meds at least twice a day or more depending on the physical findings. You can use a clean washcloth wet with lukewarm water and gently wash away the eye discharge for now. Good luck and thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Usually a squinting eye is a sign of pain or discomfort, and in your picture it looks like Zoey’s fur around her eye is tear stained. A scratch on her eye is possible, as is an upper respiratory infection causing conjunctivitis. I would recommend having her examined by a vet - they might recommend a corneal stain to rule out an ulcer.

This is my neighbor’s outdoor feral kitten, Sprinkles. I TNR’d him a few weeks ago. My neighbor and I are concerned about his eye infection which she noticed last weekend. My neighbor purchased Terramycin to apply but, Sprinkles is not easy to pickup
I agree that Sprinkles' right eye appears to have a good bit of discharge and squinting. While it's possible that this issue could be caused by an infection, I would expect both eyes to be affected. When only one eye squints, I worry more about corneal ulcers or abrasions. The only way to know for sure is to take Sprinkles to a vet for a physical exam, including eye evaluation. Since Sprinkles is feral, this process is likely to be more challenging, so you may want to ask your vet if they can prescribe a mild oral sedative like gabapentin to be given before the appointment. Depending on what is found, Sprinkles will likely need to receive eye medication at least twice per day, so he may need to be kept inside or in a safe, confined area until this issue has resolved. Eye issues can change and progress rapidly, so it's best to have him evaluated as soon as possible. Until then, keep him confined and try to put an e-collar (cone) on him if at all possible to prevent any rubbing or scrat
