Why is my dog scratching his ears and chest? They're scabby & bloody.

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 7 lbs

My dog buddy has been scratching his ear and chest pretty bad for about a month now but we have ruled out tics or fleas so I'm wondering if any one could help me figure out why my dog is scratching his fur off and the inside of his ear looks so bad it's dry and scabby and bloody if anybody can help me find a solution it would be much appreciated buddy is a 7 year 11 month old jack russel rat terrier he is prone to alergies and sometimes sickness but we have given him benidryl and it didn't work

Benadryl is not going to work until you get the infection under control. I recommend bringing Buddy to a veterinarian to have them check his ears and skin. They can treat with antibiotics and topical medication for his ears. Then your veterinarian can discuss reasons for the infection to have started. It can be allergies or even water getting inside of his ears. If Buddy has a history of itching and allergies is a concern there are great new options to help Buddy.
