My cat vomited foreign objects and won't eat. Should I go to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 lbs

My cat vomited clear liquids 3-4x daily a few days ago, has not vomited in 24 hours since. Seems lethargic, will smell food but not eat or drink much. Found 2 items she threw up that are probably decorative balls from my bedspread. I thought it was hairballs at first so I didnt worry until I did more research. Theres more balls missing from bedspread. Shes acting normal besides eating and sleeping a lot. How do I know if she needs a vet visit?

Poor Willie! Given that it appears she has vomited a foreign object (decorative balls from your bedspread) and the face she isn't eating, I would take her into a vet now. It's actually very serious when a cat doesn't eat, as they will develop a fatty liver when they go too long without eating. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, so that needs to be avoided. She may need x-rays to determine if she has any more of those balls in her GI tract. Please take her into a vet now. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
