My new RES turtles aren't eating. Are they sick or just adjusting?

i have been gifted 2 RES.. i dont know how old they are but one is 4 inches and other 5 inches... they have been with us since 5 days... they have hardly eaten...just a peck at the food and they sleep alot. i have them in a plastic container as i wasnt sure on how to set up their home . now with enough understanding i am getting their new home ready..but it might take a day or two...i am worried that if they dont eat... they might fall sick.. any help here pls

Reptiles can handle not eating for a few days. I would worry if they get lethargic and not eat. Then they may be ill. But changing environment can indeed cause your RES to not eat until they have gotten used to their new home. Make sure the temperature in the new enclosure ist correct as reptiles do need warmth to keep their metabolism up. This should also make them more likely to eat.
