Quill is my <5 month old, male hedgehog. On 9/21 I brought him to the vet for blood in his urine. The vet's best guess is UTI. Had x-ray, urinalysis, culture (false negative result), ultasound & CBC. He's been on Clavamox, then Enrofloxacin, & now Cipro. It's been over a month & the blood in his urine hasn't stopped. He's running on wheel & eating normally. Drinking less so I'm syringe feeding water. How long can a UTI take to clear up? What else could it be that didn't show up in the tests?

Thanks for reaching out about Quill. Seems like a good work up so far. The urinary bladder can have inflammatory problems that can result in bleeding. If the urinalysis was not collected via a cystocentesis (a needle into the bladder to collect) that should be done, as if that urine has blood, then blood from bladder or kidneys. If that urine is clear, blood could be from testicles or urethra. If it seems as it is a urinary bladder inflammation, some anti-inflammatories could help. Good luck.
