My dog lost weight, but his chest looks big. Is his heart enlarged?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 31 lbs

Hi ...please help I have a Corgi Jack Russell mix. I don't know if I'm just noticing this because he has finally lost a little weight. He was a bit fat.... but his chest looks to big to me in the center. I'm worried his heart is enlarged or something:( please advise. Thank you

You won't be able to tell heart enlargement without an x-ray or ultrasound. The chest wall is a rigid cage that contains its organs and all swelling, unlike the abdomen which will swell with organ enlargement or fluid retention. It may be that you aren't use to Skippy's anatomy without the extra body fat, or there could be a medical reason. The best thing to do would be to have him examined by a vet who can figure out what is going on.
