Is a swollen lump on my cat's belly normal after neuter surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 11 lbs

I took my cat in to get fixed last week. They had to go into the abdomen to retrieve one of his testicles so he has abdominal stitches. Well since the first day of his surgery it's been swollen and it's a lump his belly. It doesn't act like it bothers him. He eats, sleeps and uses the bathroom the same as before. However he does have a brother and they play alot. Im worried it is possibly something bad and it's not normal.

Hello. This incision looks normal for a week after surgery. Some swelling like you are seeing is normal especially if they are active and playing. It is normally just some inflammation of the muscle wall and subcutaneous tissue. It can take a few weeks for this to resolve and flatten out, but it will.
