My cat ran into a glass door. What signs mean he needs a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 8 months and 26 days old | 5 lbs

My cat ran headfirst into a glass door thinking it was open, and he ran into it very hard. He ran away and was blinking for a little while, but perked up after some treats. What should I look out for to make sure he's really ok, and what signs mean I should take him to the vet?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is likely Archie will be fine. I would look for dullness or depression instead of being bright and alert. I would also look for his pupils to be different sizes or any vomiting. However, he isn’t the first cat to do this and it wasn’t the type of trauma to cause serious injury. Kisses to Archie!
