Can my puppy recover from pulmonary contusion and breathing issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 4 days old | 3.5 lbs

My puppy is 9 weeks old and fell on his neck/chest the other day. The vets did xrays and he has a pulmonary contusion and is in an oxygen chamber. When they take him out of there he struggles to breath. Just want to know whether you think he can recover from this or not

Pulmonary contusions alone without any other injury can take few days to recover completely. Considering the young age and if he is otherwise fine, the chances for recovery may be good. The prognosis would depend upon the full clinical assessment, so I would need more information to give you a specific advice.
