My dog threw up heartworm medicine hours later. Should I redose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 8 months old | 35 lbs

My dog took his heart worm medication at 6pm with dinner. He threw up a little at 2am that next morning (I don’t think they were related). Is that enough time that the medication should be absorbed or do we need to redose?

That is absolutely enough. I would suggest NOT to repeat the dosage. Hope this answer was helpful, but please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
