Why is my senior dog peeing on the carpet? Is she incontinent?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 12 years and 11 months old | 25 lbs

Jenny has begun peeing on the carpet, even the new carpet. She has a doggie door and uses it sometimes but not always. She has never peed on the tile or in her crate at night. Is something wrong or has she just gotten old? Any suggestions? Thank you.

She is probably suffering from urinary incontinence, a common condition in old female dogs, take her to the vet and they will first rule out a urinary infection then they will start her on a medication for urinary incontinence.
