Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 1 month old | 40 lbs
My dog has lost his appetite but is drinking a lot more water than usual. He threw up twice in the past week and had diarrhea at the very beginning of the symptoms but has since not had any. I switched him to chicken and rice which he isn't really into either. He is otherwise totally fine, active and alert. I am worried, he is losing weight. Have to really coax him to eat. Made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow but am worried sick now. Could it have been a bad bag of food? (Blue Buffalo)

This is concerning. Excessive drinking and concurrent weight loss/not eating properly makes me suspect diabetes and I would certainly recommend a urinalysis or blood test checking blood glucose. Other endocrine disease is also possible such as Cushing's disease. Blue Buffalo is not a feed I recommend. I often have patients with gastrointestinal problems, and the common denominator is Blue Buffalo. So this could also be a cause of your dog not feeling well.
