Dog eye removal: Is it normal for her to be sensitive near the site?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 8 years old | 14.5 lbs

Hi my girl had her eye removed 7 days ago So far so good and I am amazed how much she is back to her old self however she is still very reluctant to allow me near the site , is this normal? I know we r only a week on from surgery so will she still be quite sore ? There is no redness or oozing It was removed because she had an indolent ulcer which really wasn't healing well and she was not managing her pain no matter Wat we tried Ps. She can be a little mardy lol

The serious pain is gone now, and she is feeling good. There likely is still some wound pain and of course, she cannot see on that side. So she still has to adjust her vision. This is likely why she is irritated when you get near the area. Best leave her alone and let her adjust, eventually this will be no problem. And, btw, the incision looks excellent.
