In small dogs and puppies, it can quickly lead to dehydration which may complicate any underlying medical condition. If he is not behaving normally, have him examined by your vet today. If he is behaving normally otherwise, you can try withholding food for 8-12 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte during this time. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until the stool is normal then transition slowly to the regular diet. Symptoms that require a visit to the veterinarian include, persistent diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting or abdominal pain.
