My dog has a painful neck lump and pus from his ear. What to do?

Please help, my dog is a male min pin chihuahua mix about 11 yrs old. He has a lump on his neck and pus coming out of his ear. Any diagnosis and over the counter treatment would be very helpful. He is in pain...

It sounds like there may be a severe infection or something stuck in the ear canal. There aren't over the counter medications that will treat an infection that is creating pus in the ear canal. A lump on the neck below the ear is likely a swollen lymph node which is filtering the inflammatory cells from the infection. Mickey likely needs strong antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Unfortunately there are not OTC pain medications that are safe for dogs. Mickey should be seen by a vet as soon as possible so that he can be appropriately diagnosed and receive the correct medications for the disease process he has.
