My cat is always hungry and losing weight. Should I be concerned?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 6 years and 5 months old | 16.3 lbs

My cat has lost half pound in a month he 16 pound now we feed him 180 to 200 calories a day he went from 17 to 16 my question is all he wants to do now is eat so we started giving him more 230 calories a day in the last week but hes still was able to lose half pound and all he wants to do is eat could there be a problem especially if he keeps losing we are trying to get Jim to lose weight that's why we been feeding him 180 to 200 calorie so sc should I be concern if he always want to eat ?

If he's on a weight loss diet prescribed by your vet, then it may be that he just isn't used to getting "less" food. Feeding a higher fiber diet (most weight-loss diets add fiber) can help him feel fuller on less food, which can help with his being hungry on fewer calories. If the problem continues, ruling out any issues such as metabolic problems is also a good idea to make sure there isn't an underlying cause with it. You may also want to spread out his meals to several more throughout the day, instead of just 1-2 large meals, so that he feels like he is getting "more" over a longer period of time.
