Why is my elderly dog struggling to walk and poop with a tail growth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 45 lbs

My elderly female dog first started having trouble defecating as she would struggle to go a small drop and after a few minutes move to another spot and drop another. She has this white, hard,to swollen looking growth under her tail. She just recently won't/can't stand on her hind legs at all. I've been putting warm compresses on it which has seemed to help her defecate easier as she did laying there a few times. There is a horrific smelling pus and other fluids secreting. Please help me

This looks like a large tumour or abscess which is blocking her back passage and likely causing pain or nerve compression preventing her from walking. She needs urgent veterinary assessment to determine what if anything can be done at this stage but be prepared that euthansia may need to be considered in order to prevent further pain and suffering
