My dog finished anal gland antibiotics, still licking tail. Vet visit?

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Male | neutered | 9 years and 7 months old

My dog went to the vets Friday 5th October and had a anal expression,they found the right one Infected so they gave him antibiotics which he finished yesterday 15th October but he Is still licking around his tail area every so often,should I take him take him back to the vets or just wash the area and watch him closely,what would be the best option Thankyou

Yes you should take him back, anal gland infections often take several weeks to resolve and require 3-4 weeks course of antibiotics, often the antibiotic will need to be changed, i have found over time that Clindamycin is the most effective antibiotic for anal gland infection.
