What's the best diet for my Dalmatian puppy, considering purine and raw food safety?

Pet's info: Dog | Dalmatian | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 3 days old

Hello, I am picking up my 8 week old puppy Dalmatian Puppy soon and I really want to get his diet right. I know dalmatians struggle with high Purine foods. I have been looking into a raw diet but the concept of him eating bones scares me, is there potential danger of puncturing his stomach? Is raw meat safe, Salmonella E.Coli etc? Is there a diet/food you may be able to recommend for a Dalmatian please? Many thanks, Lottie

I don't recommend raw diets. There is a chance that bones could cause a GI obstruction, splinter and perforate the GI tract, and bones do break teeth. In addition, there is the risk of getting sick from Salmonella and E.coli from the raw meat to both Luther and you. Royal Canin has a Dalmatian Junior food for puppies from 2 months of age to 15 months. It is specially formulated to meet a Dalmatian's nutritional needs. Other brands of food I recommend include Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!
