Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 2 years and 9 months old
My german shepherd has developed a wound of sorts and lost hair around it, one on her side and one on her hind leg (same side) from one day to the next. She had something similar last month and the vet said allergies and that her breed was prone to this, but now my lab has also developed one tiny wound like it. Should I be worried? Are those allergies contagious or is it sth else? Attaching pics, the 3rd one (lightest fur) is the lab's tiny wound. The first two are Sasha's flank and leg. Thx!

Itching from allergies can certainly cause wounds are decrease the health of the skin, which can lead to bacterial or fungal infections. Allergies aren't contagious, and their symptoms vary from pet to pet. However, parasites can be contagious. You may want to have your vet check for external parasites that can cause itching or skin issues, such as fleas and ticks. A skin scraping for Demodex mites may be a good idea. If the vet thinks that allergies are the cause, then a hypoallergenic food trial or anti-inflammatory medications may be warranted.
