Why is my cat peeing blood and not using her litter box?

Question

My cat recently does not pee in cat litter, but elsewhere and more frequent. She is 1year old and i want to bring her to spay next week, but just now, I saw the pee with a little blood. What should I do right now? Does petco has vet who could deal with this? Thanks. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 7 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor PP! No, Petco/VetCo is not a full service vet, the clinics only do vaccinations and wellness services NOT sick appointments. PP needs to see a Vet today. Causes of bloody urine are: stress bladder inflammation (cystitis), urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Prevent her from urination by keeping her in her carrier or in a room with out a litter box for a few hours before the appointment so the Vet can collect a urine sample to test. If she has a urinary tract infection she will be put on antibiotics. I wish you the best!
