Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 5.5 lbs
I read your article about why cats sleep on heads, but Uli doesn't. Towards morning she walks on my chest (painful), turns around a lot, and finally settles down for a snooze on my chest. It can't be my smell, since sometimes she's on top of the blanket. Is this also common behavior?

Yes, this is also common behavior. One of my cats sleeps nestled in the crook of my neck at night, another likes sleeping on my hip or chest at night. Cats like it warm, so sleeping on your body is like a heating blanket for them, and at the same time they feel secure.
