Okay I know that food allergies don’t show up till later. He’s on a bland diet and I’m transitioning him onto Royal Canin Puppy food for giants. I’m following all the steps that my vet said, but every single time i try to transition him on this food he literally starts scratching like crazy even outside. But mind you before i started transitioning he didn’t scratch(this is with any kibble) And also when he gets his beard gets wet even alittle it smells like mildew! It’s like this since he got old

I would talk to your veterinarian about trying a prescription diet. There are hypoallergenic foods that you can get so their body doesn't recognize the proteins. Bear would have to be on it for a full 2 months to see if it is going to work. If it works then he has food allergies. If it doesn't work then he has environmental allergies. I would try this first prior to switching to something else. I would also recommend making sure he is on a flea and tick prevention that is a pill since they also can be used to treat mites. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
